Winner of the eJournal Club Submission for January/February 2024 announced

Congratulations Dr William Shanahan

Congratulations to Dr William Shanahan who submitted the winning review for the January/February 2024 round of the eJournal Club. Dr Shanahan's submission was a review of a journal article about a prospective, multicenter, three-cohort study evaluating contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) in patients with cirrhosis. Dr William Shanahan is a third-year gastroenterology SpR at Galway University Hospital with a particular interest in liver disease. Dr Shanahan believes the RCPI eJournal Club is a great medium to highlight GIM relevant research, particularly that which the community at large may not come across in specialty specific journals.  Dr Shanahan states that the article that he reviewed is a  well structured study which serves to challenge current dogma and broadly allay clinician concerns regarding the risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Launched in October 2019, the eJournal Club is a unique opportunity to share your reviews of practice-changing articles with over 1,000 doctors. An initiative of the RCPI Trainees' Committee, the eJournal Club is open to doctors in Internal Medicine who are registered on a Basic Specialist Training (BST) programme, Higher Specialist Training (HST) programme, International Residency Training Programme (IRTP) or the International Clinical Fellowship Programme (ICFP) with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
