What will the project deliver?

The project will deliver:

• A new and more secure account login experience:

  Users will be requested to select a primary email address to validate and access RCPI offerings and services. The introduction of social federation options (Google, Apple ID, Microsoft) will also be made available. This means you will be able to log in to your RCPI account using an existing Google, Apple or Microsoft ID/Account. 
  
  

• New registration screens

  All RCPI account holders will need to update and validate their account details to securely access our products and services.
  
  
  
  

• Enhanced security and compliance

  The project will deliver enhanced security and compliance with centralised access management and Multi-Factor- Authentication (MFA) with users requested to verify account access via an App, SMS, or email)
  
  

• Migration to a secure cloud-based solution

  The migration of existing RCPI accounts from on-premises directory to security cloud-based solution, providing a single view of our users across all data sources, offerings, and services.

The introduction of this new system will provide many benefits for RCPI and its users, including:

• improved security across RCPI systems and digital identity management
• a more joined-up and intuitive user experience.
• seamless single sign-on across multiple RCPI system and services
• eliminated password fatigue by allowing social network user logins.
• self-service password reset (SSPR) to alleviate IT helpdesk pressures.
• scalability and readiness for future user identity use cases.
• introduction of a robust digital identity framework that is foundational for future projects and initiatives.

This webpage will provide the most up-to-date information about the project. It will be updated regularly to keep you informed about the project, its progress and any actions you may need to take as well as guidance and support.

If you are an existing RCPI account holder please follow these steps:

1. Visit www.rcpi.ie and select ‘My account’

2. Select the forgot your password option and follow the steps below under ‘How do I reset my password’

To reset your Password:

1. 1. Navigate to the RCPI login screen
   2. Click 'Forgot your password?' under the password field
   3. You will be asked if you have access to your email address. Please select an option and click Continue
   4. If yes you will be asked to enter your Email address and click Send Verification Code to receive an email to that address (If you do not have access to your email address you can follow Steps 7-9 below)
   5. Once you have that code from the email enter it in the field on the screen and click Continue
   6. Once this is complete you will be asked to enter a new password. Once you have done this click Continue to be brought back to the RCPI site
   7. If you have selected that you do not have access to your email address you will be prompted to enter the email address you previously used along with the mobile number associated with that account. Click Continue once this has been filled in
   8. If your account does exist, you will have to verify the mobile number that you entered
   9. Once you have completed this step and verified the mobile number you will be asked to create a new password

3. Once you have reset your password, select edit profile

4. You will be directed to sign in. Enter your login details and click sign in

5. Enter your mobile phone number and select continue

6. You will see two options for either a code sent via SMS or a phone call. If you select Send Code, you will receive a text message with a code that you can 3 enter in the field that has appeared. If you select Call Me, you will receive a phone call with instructions on how to verify

7. Once you have completed this step, you will be signed in to your RCPI account and brought to the ‘My account’ pageIf your account does exist, you will have to verify the mobile number that you entered

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds another level of security to your account by prompting you during the sign-in process to enter an additional form of identification, requiring two or more verification methods. Typically, this includes something you know (your password) and something you've got (a code sent to your phone).

RCPI use Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) which helps safeguard access to RCPI data and applications and delivers strong authentication via a range of easy verification options—phone call, text message, or mobile app notification and one-time passwords

MFA is crucial for enhancing the security of your account. There are several reasons why this important:

• Enhanced Security: MFA significantly increases the security of your online accounts by requiring multiple forms of identification. Even if someone manages to obtain your password, they would still need access to your second factor in order to gain entry.
• Protection Against Password Theft: Passwords can be easily stolen or compromised through various methods such as phishing attacks or data breaches. By using MFA, even if your password is compromised, the hacker would still need the additional factor to gain access to your account. This helps to protect your sensitive information from unauthorized access.
• Protecting your Digital Identity: MFA ensures you are the only one who can access your College account which is filled with online activities.

Verifying your email address is an important step in ensuring the security and validity of your RCPI account. It serves several purposes:

1. Confirming your identity:By verifying your email address, you provide proof that you are the legitimate owner of the account. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access and ensures that only you have control over it.
2. Preventing fraud and spam:Verifying your email address helps prevent fraudulent activities, such as creating multiple accounts using fake email addresses. It also helps reduce the risk of spam by ensuring that only valid email addresses are linked to accounts.
3. Account recovery:In case you forget your password or encounter any issues with your account, a verified email address is crucial for account recovery. It allows you to receive important notifications, password reset links, and other account-related information.
4. Communication and notifications:Verifying your email address ensures that you receive important updates, notifications, and newsletters from the platform or service you have signed up for.
5. Enhanced security:Verifying your email address adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts. It reduces the risk of someone else gaining unauthorized access to your account by requiring them to have access to your verified email address as well.

Overall, verifying your email address is a simple yet effective way to protect your online presence and ensure that you have full control over your accounts. It helps maintain the security, privacy, and integrity of your personal information.

To reset your Password:

1. Navigate to the RCPI login screen

Passwords must contain between 10 and 64 characters. Your password must have at least 3 of the following:

• a lowercase letter
• an uppercase letter
• a number
• a symbol

1. To log in to your RCPI account, visit www.rcpi.ie and select the login option.
2. Enter your account details and click on sign in.
3. Depending on the MFA option that you selected you will see different options. If you selected Phone you will see two options for either a code sent via SMS or a phone call. If you select Send Code, you will receive a text message with a code that you can enter in the field that has appeared. If you select Call Me, you will receive a phone call with instructions on how to verify
4. If you selected the Authenticator option, you will be shown a QR code that you can scan with your smart phone camera or with the authenticator app of your choice. Once you have scanned the QR and setup the authentication profile on your phone, please click continue and enter the code that appears in the field displayed. Please note that the below is a sample code.

If you are having login issues, you can choose one of the options below. Please note if you have used a social media account to login, we will be unable to assist with password reset.

• You can also call our Managed Services provider, Presidio, on 00 353 1 207 5700 and choose option 1. They are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

1. Check there are no typos in the entry.
2. Check there are no spaces at the beginning or the end of the entry

Some Apps are free, and some require a subscription. Below are the popular Authentication Apps available:

• Microsoft Authenticator
• Google Authenticator

As you have used a third-party system to log in RCPI do not have access to these systems to reset passwords or resolve login issues therefore you will have to contact the support team for the social media account you have used to assist you with the login issue.

There are 2 ways to Edit/review your account details:

1. When you log in, you will be automatically brought to the Edit Profile page to review or update your details
2. Navigate to the RCPI login screen, log in to your account and Click on the 'Edit Profile' link in RCPI Digital Hub to review or update your details.

1. To change your email address used for login to the RCPI site you must first sign into the RCPI website
2. From the RCPI Dashboard select the update email link
3. You will be prompted for your Email address and your password. Enter your email and password and select Continue
4. Enter the new email address that you want to use, click 'Send verification code'
5. Once you receive the verification code, enter it and select 'Verify code'
6. Once your email address has been updated you can click Continue. The next time you sign in you will have to use the new email address that you have set

Yes. If you change your email address, you will need to use this email address the next time you log in.
