Royal College of Physicians of Ireland now offers its Clinical Paediatrics Examination in the Middle East

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) is now offering its Clinical Examination in Paediatrics in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is the first time the Paediatrics Clinical Examination, which is part of the Membership Examination of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, will be held outside of Ireland. The examination takes place on 13 October, at RCPI’s examination centre at Dr Suliman Al Habib Hospital in Riyadh, where RCPI already offers its clinical examination in Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  As RCPI grows its presence in the Middle East, this marks a significant milestone for the College as it responds to the ever-increasing demand for highly skilled and trained medical personnel across the Gulf.

Dr Louise Kyne, Dean of RCPI’s Faculty of Paediatrics said: “Offering our Paediatrics Clinical Examination in the region demonstrates our commitment to advancing medical education in the area of Child Health and Paediatrics. Becoming a Member of RCPI offers doctors unparalleled professional development opportunities throughout their medical careers.”

Dr Hassan Eliwan, Convenor of the MRCPI Paediatrics Clinical Examination at RCPI’s examination centre in Dr Suliman Al Habib Hospital in Riyadh said: “We are honoured to host the Clinical Examination in Paediatrics for the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. This provides a new opportunity for our doctors to grow and develop the speciality of Paediatrics in the region and internationally.”

RCPI started holding examinations in the Gulf Region in 2004 and has examination centres in Dubai and Al Ain in the UAE, Muscat in Oman and in Bahrain.

RCPI has a strong presence in the Gulf region, with over 1,200 doctors currently holding membership. Additionally, it has proudly produced 180 graduates from its training programmes in the Gulf region. Last month, RCPI opened a new examination centre in Bahrain which further solidifies its commitment to nurturing medical talent in this region where demand for advanced healthcare resources is growing exponentially.

Applications are currently open for the Paediatrics Clinical Examination and will close on 14 August 2023. For more information visit our MRCPI Paediatrics webpage.
