Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Hosts First Intern Open Day
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland held its first Intern Open Day at No. 6 Kildare Street on Saturday, 05 October. This event was designed for current medical interns aspiring to advance their careers through the Basic Specialist Training (BST) programmes.
Nearly 100 attendees participated in this full-day event, which was held both in person and online to provide comprehensive insights and guidance.
The morning session, chaired by RCPI Trainers, focused on best practices for addressing common clinical scenarios, with presentations from Dr Sam Kant, Dr Paul O’Hara, Dr Donal Sexton, Dr Hugh Kearney, and Dr Sarah O’Beirne.
The afternoon focused on BST programme details from each Faculty, with an interactive Q&A session allowing interns to address questions directly to National Specialty Directors (NSDs) and Deans.
During an informal post meeting session, participants had the opportunity to meet with representatives from each of our Faculties and Institutes, as well as learn more about RCPI’s membership examinations.
The event received positive feedback from participants for the comprehensive approach to guiding interns in their specialist training journey.
