Faculty of Occupational Medicine Holds Annual Spring Conference

On 21 April 2023, the Faculty of Occupational Medicine welcomed attendees to No. 6 Kildare Street for its annual Spring Conference. 

The event, which could also be attended virtually, featured lectures around the theme of ‘Focusing on the Future.’ 

Speakers delved into a variety of different topics under this theme, including legal and HR issues, and advances in the areas of obesity, gender, lifestyle medicine and viral infections.   

Prof Martie Van-Tongeren, Dr Sheelagh O’Brien, Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Ms Marie Daly and Dr Tommy Smyth.   

The programme included: 

  • Employment, Protect disclosures and Data Protection Law Updates - Ms. Marie Daly  

  • Employers and Occupational Health: A HR Perspective- Mr. Tom Smyth 

  • Emerging Infectious Disease- Dr. Paul McKeown  

  • The Health and Occupational Research network (THOR) in Ireland and the UK- Professor Martie Van–Tongeren   

  • Lifestyle Medicine- Professor Robert Kelly   

  • Gender: A Series of Firsts- Professor Donal O’Shea   

  • Obesity: “It affects my entire life"- Dr. Michael Crotty 

The event closed with a lively panel discussion with all of our speakers, who took questions from attendees on the day.
