Faculty of Occupational Medicine Autumn Conference 2023

The Faculty of Occupational Medicine Autumn Conference took place on 29 September 2023 at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, No. 6 Kildare Street. 

The event, which was also accessible virtually, brought together experts and professionals to explore important themes in occupational health, including Mental Health and Neurodiversity, Intoxicants, and Women's Health in the Workplace. 


Dr Yvonne McNally, Ms Emma Persand, Dr Sheelagh O’Brien - Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, RCPI, Dr Deirdre Lundy, Prof Damien McElvenny, Dr Louise Fitzgerald, Dr Grant Jeffrey (Chair). 

Dr Seamus O’Ceallaigh and Dr Alyson Lee kicked off with a presentation on neurodiversity and personality disorders in the workplace. Dr Art Malone then discussed eating disorders, and Dr Hugh Gallagher explored intoxicants in the workplace. 

The second session featured presentations on shift work and cancer with Prof Damien McElvenny and menopause with Dr Louise Fitzgerald and Dr Deirdre Lundy. The session ended with Ms. Emma Persand's presentation on managing risks in the workplace. 

Each session was followed by a lively panel discussion, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts on the topics presented.
