Deepening connections and sharing knowledge with RCPI alumni in Riyadh
Riyadh was the location for the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland’s most recent international alumni network meeting. Over 70 alumni made up of members, fellows and international graduates joined RCPI senior leadership and H.E. Gerry Cunningham, Irish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for the event which celebrated the strong connection between RCPI and its alumni network in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the event, RCPI President, Dr Diarmuid O’Shea said: “Our college is deeply enriched by our international connections in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we look forward to continuing to grow and strengthen these connections in the years ahead.”

The gathering also provided the opportunity for alumni to network and share knowledge. Two graduates of RCPI’s International Clinical Fellowship Programme (ICFP) shared their clinical knowledge and experience. Dr Rudaynah Al Ali, Assistant Professor and ICFP Graduate, spoke about Troponitis, and Dr Ibrahim Yaseen, Consultant Endocrinologist and ICFP Graduate, shared his knowledge on the latest in the treatment of diabetes. Dr Geoff Chadwick, RCPI fellow and international exam convener spoke about the respiratory complications of obesity.
The gathering closed with a successful networking event.
Those in attendance at the gathering spoke about the benefits of being a part of the RCPI alumni network saying it allowed them to feel a strong connection with the college and its global community of doctors and the benefits this brings them and their patients.
The event in Riyadh builds on the success of our recent alumni event held in Dubai earlier this year.
More alumni events are being planned and details will be shared on our website.
