A warm welcome to our newest Fellows

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) celebrated the conferring of 47 new Fellows at a special admission ceremony on Wednesday, 8 May 2024.

The College welcomed new Fellows from 11 countries, including Australia, Egypt, France, India, Ireland, Pakistan, Italy, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia. 28 Fellows were conferred in person at the ceremony and 19 Fellows were conferred in absentia.

Dr Diarmuid O’Shea, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, warmly addressed the new Fellows, emphasising their crucial role in the future of the College: “You, our new Fellows are this College’s future. Fellowship of the College is recognition that you are an established physician at the peak of your career. The College and the public need your intellect, your compassion and your innovative ideas to support training and continuous professional development, to move forward advances in medicine, wherever you practice medicine.”

RCPI’s newest Fellows have each made a significant contribution to medicine and their respective specialties including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Microbiology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Histopathology, Infectious Diseases, Intensive Care Medicine, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Palliative Medicine, Pathology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Rheumatology.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI) is the most prestigious category of membership. Achieving FRCPI is an internationally recognised benchmark of professional excellence.
