269 doctors from 20 countries become Members of RCPI

On 30 September and 3 October 2024, a series of Membership of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) conferring ceremonies took place at No 6 Kildare Street – the first since the college undertook refurbishment this summer.

269 doctors from 20 countries obtained MRCPI – an internationally recognised benchmark of excellence, valued by healthcare employers worldwide, and a major milestone on the path to becoming a specialist.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome you here to No 6 Kildare Street, our recently re-decorated medical home,” said RCPI President Dr Diarmuid O’Shea, during a speech at the ceremony. “The vision of our college is, in essence, a global community of doctors engaged and enabled to improve health. Today you join this community of doctors: an international network of close to 14,000 alumni around the world.

“The future of our college depends on you: our new Members. The opportunities open to you because of the career you have chosen are truly extraordinary, and your potential is unlimited. I sincerely hope you fulfil all your dreams and ambitions,” said Dr O’Shea.

The same week as the conferring ceremonies, RCPI opened a new short survey for Members and Fellows to better understand their needs and enhance our Membership offering. You can complete the survey here.
