Dr Asmaa Milyani, International Residency Training Programme in Paediatrics
"Ireland was presented to me completely out of the blue. I was in the car when I saw an ad about it. When I first arrived, I was just very excited.

On this programme, RCPI was amazing. Even before coming to Ireland, they had been corresponding via email. They helped with all the paperwork, the legal aspects, and the visas. There were also tutors to help orient you to the different experiences in hospital settings that you might encounter in medicine in Ireland, assisting you in passing your exams as a postgraduate student. That is one of the major advantages of this programme— something you would never find in any other country.
Training in hospitals here is tough, but teamwork makes it easier, and this was something that pleasantly surprised me. The spirit among colleagues, the way they always show up for each other, and their efforts to make teamwork smoother are truly inspiring. I was awestruck. They do whatever they can to ensure you get the best training experience.
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland supports you in becoming the best physician you can be, and that is a testament to how much they care about their trainees. Because at the end of the day, you will emerge as a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and you will be a representative of RCPI.
Ireland has opened many doors for me. RCPI has given me countless opportunities. It is where I learned to become the best version of what I have always dreamed of being — a paediatrician. And I will forever be grateful for that. That’s what I will remember — you never forget your first steps."
