Application assessment criteria for candidates wishing to have their prior training recognised are outlined in the relevant Application Form. All evidence will be captured in the application form and the required supporting documentation. Applications must be completed in full.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
No. The candidate must have completed a structured training programme in full in another country and must submit evidence of same to RCPI.
Applications will be screened and verified by the RCPI Medical Training Team prior to being assessed by at least two Clinicians from the relevant Faculty / Institute.
A panel of RCPI reviewers will be selected for each Faculty / Institute. Those sitting on the panel will be recognised RCPI Trainers with all Trainer requirements up to date. Two assessors (without a conflict of interests) will be assigned to review each application independently and on its own merits.
There is a non-refundable charge €250. Applicants are required to complete the payment process as part of their application. Applications will only be regarded as complete once the application fee has been paid. Payment will be collecected seperatley following the submission deadline.
The process opens on July 2025 and closes on September 2025.
You will get an answer no later than 30 September 2024.
There is an appeal mechanism. RCPI prides itself on fair, open and robust processes.
Should an applicant wish to appeal the decision, a nominated member of the relevant Faculty / Institute will review the application. Only one round of appeal is permitted.
There is a €150 charge for an Appeal. You will be reimbursed your appeal fee if your appeal is successful.

RCPI HST applications open on 1 October 2024 and close on 1 November 2024 for commencement in a HST programme in July 2025.
