Overview
The Institute of Medicine (formerly the Irish Committee on Higher Medical Training) is open to non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHD), doctors who practice in various niche areas of medicine, or in areas such as education, governance, management, medico-legal, to name but a few. You must be on the General or Supervised Division of the Irish Medical Council Register.
If you hold an Irish Medical Council registered specialty, you should enrol on a Specialist Division Professional Competence Scheme that matches your Irish-registered specialty.
If you’re not sure which Scheme you should enrol on, contact us and we will be glad to help.
Were you enrolled in 2023-2024?
If you were enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme during 2023-2024, you don’t need to complete another application for 2024-2025. You are, however, required to renew your enrolment each year.
