Important: If you are an RCPI trainee please note, some of our examinations dates might clash with your tutorials, please bear in mind this when booking your examination.

Any exam candidate working in Ireland can apply for a refund upon successfully passing an exam, under the HSE Clinical Course and Examination Refund Scheme.

LFOM Written

Applications are closed

The last sitting of LFOM Written Exam took place on 20 January 2025. The results will be sent to the candidates within four weeks after the exam date.

The next sitting of the LFOM Written exam is TBC.

Applications closed Please note:
  • The LFOM exam is held online, via remote invigilation. Candidates may sit the exam anywhere in the world, provided they have a reliable internet connection. Click here for more information.
  • Verifications are completed up to two weeks after the closing date for applications.

LFOM Portfolio

Applications are now open

The LFOM Portfolio applications are open and will close on 26 February 2025 which is also the submission deadline. See the application link below. Verification of the applications will start after the closing date. Please note that the candidate's portfolios will be reviewed for anti plagiarism as part of the submission process. 

The exam fees for the Viva exam are included in the portfolio exam fees. The LFOM Viva exam is held online. Candidates who have passed the portfolios will be contacted by the RCPI Exams Department with further instructions. If you are resitting the Viva exam, please contact the RCPI Exams Department at exams@rcpi.ie for more details in relation to the application link.

LFOM Portfolio move to Brightspace

The College is transitioning most of the LFOM Portfolio exam process to the Brightspace platform: from 29 January 2025 the Brightspace platform will open for applications for the next sitting of the LFOM Portfolio, with submission deadline on 26 February 2025. This change will mean that all portfolio cases will be uploaded directly to Brightspace by candidates in advance of the submission deadline. LFOM Examiners will use Brightspace to view, mark and share their results and feedback with exam candidates. The plagiarism checking process using Turnitin tool will now also be undertaken via the Brightspace platform. Uploading of the supplementary documents and paying the examination fee will remain as is via the RCPI online application. The VIVA examinations will also remain as is virtually via Zoom. Multi Factor Authentication 

To access digital services, all RCPI account holders are required to reset your password, edit your profile, and complete Multi Factor Authentication for your account. If you have already completed these steps, thank you. To update your account now, simply click on My Account.
