Dr Kelly is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Mater hospital, with subspeciality training in clinical virology. She is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research, UCD where she is undertaking a HRB clinician scientist fellowship in imported fever. She has trained in the UK, Malawi and Ireland and is a single mum to two teenagers. Her mentoring interests are in supporting women and people from under-represented backgrounds in medicine and academia

Prof Ceppie Merry is a consultant physician in infectious diseases at St James’s Hospital and has an interest in global health security and integrative medicine.

She trained in the US and UK. She lived and worked in East Africa for ten years and continues to contribute to projects in the region.

Dr Eimear Gibbons was awarded her CSCST in Gastroenterology in June 2023. Prior to undertaking her medical degree at the University of Galway, she obtained a BA in English from UCD, followed by an MSc in Global Health from TCD. She is currently enrolled in the StAR MD programme with RCSI looking at the evolving role of colon capsule endoscopy in routine clinical practice. She lives in Dublin with her young family.

Dr Paul Mullane is a Consultant in Public Health Medicine based in the Department of Public Health HSE Dublin and North East, working in the domain of Health Protection. He qualified in medicine from University College Cork in 2010. He completed Basic Specialist Training in general internal medicine and subsequently worked as a registrar in geriatrics and stroke medicine in the UK. He was awarded an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in 2015. He completed HST in Public Health Medicine in 2021. He has a keen interest in medical education and has previously worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in the NHS in England and was an Honorary Clinical Lecturer with St George’s University of London. He received an Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award during his tenure there. He is an RCPI Trainer for the Faculty of Public Health Medicine. His interests include vaccine-preventable disease, port health and emergency preparedness.

Dr. David Madden is an experienced Occupational Health Physician based in Limerick, with a career spanning over two decades. He graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) with a degree in Medicine in 1995, where he was also awarded UCD Medicine Student of the Year. After completing the Mid-West GP Scheme in 1999, Dr. Madden went on to specialise in Occupational Medicine, completing the SpR scheme in 2004.

Dr. Madden has worked full-time in Occupational Health in Limerick for over 20 years. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Madden is a partner in Ireland’s largest Occupational Health provider Medmark and leads the Limerick Medmark office.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Madden is proud to be the father of three challenging and demanding teenage daughters, supported by his wife. He values the balance between his personal and professional commitments and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge and experience by supporting colleagues who may need guidance in their career paths.

Doctor Robert Ryan is a specialist occupational health physician and Managing Partner of Medmark Occupational Healthcare. He qualified in medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1989 and the completed basic special specialist training in medicine, before moving to the UK to complete a GP training scheme there. On his return home to Ireland, he joined Medmark and over the past 30 years has worked exclusively in the practise of occupational medicine. He is a Fellow of both the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, and the RCPI and is a recent past Dean of the Faculty.  He is a trainer in the RCPI HST programme for occupational medicine. His experience in occupational medicine gives him a good insight into the challenges faced by individuals as they navigate their early careers, managing a busy time in their personal lives in tandem with the demands of training and the workplace. He believes that in the years followed his graduation he experienced a degree of career uncertainty and as a consequence he retains an empathy for junior doctors who are struggling to identify the career path best suited to them.
